BBC Wales work with Computing students

A team from BBC Wales will be working with 9 Computing students to fine tune the Digital Stories they have created as part of their course work. The BBC have deemed them of sufficient quality to be published on the BBC website in the near future. The team from BBC Cardiff, lead by Dr Daniel Meadows, will spend the whole day on 21st June at Graig Campus. One VCE student, Chris Evans already has a story up there together with those of lecturers Garry Jones and Gail George. Terrific work Sandra, Dean, Emyr, Nathan, Franceska, Daniel, Wyn, Steven and James.

Watch BBC2W at 9:45pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to see Digital Stories broadcast on TV.

Digital Storytelling in Coleg Sir Gar

Here is an update on the last news item regarding Digital Stories on the BBC Website written by Coleg Sir Gar GNVQ and AVCE students from last year.
5 student’s stories are viewable on

The students are Franceska Bellin, Emyr Dyer, Steven Leigh from GNVQ and James Davies and Dean Davies from AVCE Year 2.
The BBC Team were really pleased with the student contribution – and spoke highly of their range of stories, the maturity of their approach to the whole project and what a positive and pleasant group of students they were to work with – so Bravo to them for achieving this. It can now go on their CV’s to impress employers or Course Admissions tutors.
4 other students did have stories accepted by the BBC but which are not yet up there. The main problem lies in issues of copyright – Daniel Reilly’s story featured a particular car, Sandra Sechi’s lovely story featured pictures of load of her friends in school when they were under 18 and breached security for under 18’s rules. Nathan Protheroe featured his lovely niece so parental approval is needed before that can shown and Wyn Robert’s story hit a technical problem. Nevertheless, the praise applies to all 9 students.

Congratulations and Thanks from the Staff of the Faculty of Computing & Information Technology.
